Few Points to be Remembered While Painting

Painting is to be commenced from the upper corner of the left side of the support and to be completed at the lower corner of the right side, which helps to keep the painted places open.
For good composition attractive subject is to be chosen and then related objects are to be added with it. No space of the support should be left vacant and care should be taken to make the painting.
If the painting is commenced in the form of blocks at the initial state, it can be completed nicely in the later stage.
It is better to practice painting with the help of pencil. For this purpose, practice of Landscape, Still life, Foliage drawing, Life drawing and shading is to be done with pencil. While bringing the effect of light and shade, it is to be kept in mind that shadow includes umbra penumbra and when the source of light is bigger than the object, an illuminated portion is being created at the edge of the darkest portion is being created at the edge of the darkest portion of the shadow due to returned light. The brightest or the highly illuminated portion is called Highly lighted or Reflected lighted area. While shading no actual line of demarkation should be visible, with the variation of shading the expression of this line of demarkation is to depicted generally, shading in done from lighter tone to deeper tone.
While applying water colour, all the required colours are to be kept in the palette at first and the brush should always be fully charged with sufficient colour. Colouring is be done from lighter tone to deeper tone. Sketching should be done lightly with a pencil. Sky, water etc. Which covers the major area of the painting should be coloured first. To adopt the skill of drawing human figure, it is better to practice the drawing of the different parts of the body (e.g. hand, leg etc.) separately. The human face (from fore-hand to chin) can be divided in there equal portions, from forehead to eyes, from eyes to lips and from lips to chin. If the face is considered as one unit, the whole body will be seven and half units (7 1/2 units). Again the length of a face is always equal to the length of a palm (from the wrist) to the with point, where the body supports (the centre of gravity).
